Royal Canadian Navy case study
Replenishment at sea
Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) missions can take place anywhere on earth. Those missions require replenishment of fuel, food, parts and ammunition. Calian trains sailors on land for missions at sea using immersive technology.
Naval training innovation: RCN's mixed reality move
Calian worked with the RCN to deliver a mixed reality (MR) training solution for replenishment at sea (RaS) using Microsoft HoloLens 2. This solution allows sailors to learn the RaS process and activities on land in a low-risk setting.
Delivering simulation-based solutions for complex naval operations
The RCN identified a need for advanced training methods for RaS procedures. The goal was to transition from traditional methods to simulation-based training, enabling sailors to safely and effectively practice these complex operations on land. This approach was intended to boost confidence and competence in performing these critical tasks at sea.
